Feeding your body and feeding your soul are very different things

Average art is like average love.

I eat average pizza sometimes. As long as it does not kill me I am ok. We all do lots of things that are just ok. And yes, we consume lots of average things. But when it comes to feeding the soul, to be inspired, we need the best.

Art, like love, only works when it is great. Average love is for the birds. The same with art.

When it comes to the arts you are competing on the world stage. Everything else is localized . In the arts domain, the source of competition is global.

I have to eat at restaurants in the city I am in. Some of them are good, some are ok. But that is the deal. When it comes to the arts though, it is global stage : books, movies, music … the world is the playing field. And the art needs to be hot for it to work out there; the restaurant just has to be up the road.

Feeding your body and feeding your soul are very different things. Our bodies can survive on staples. But our souls needs more. We need laughter, love, magic, art. These are things we stay alive for.
